Sales tax formula
Tax = price × (general rate + local rate) · Total = price + tax
When several taxes apply to the same base, their rates add up.

Assumptions and limitations
- You enter the rates and they are added together.

Frequently asked questions
How is it different from VAT?
Sales tax is usually charged only on the final sale; VAT applies at every stage and is deducted between businesses.
Can I leave the local rate empty?
Yes: if there's no local tax, only the general rate is used.
