How early repayment is calculated

Saving = interest without prepaying − interest after prepaying

Lowering the balance reduces each month's interest. Shortening the term usually saves more interest; lowering the payment frees up money each month.

Early repayment example

With €100,000 outstanding at 3% and 240 months left, the payment is €554.60. If you repay €10,000 and keep the payment, you finish 31 months earlier and save €7,520.52 in interest.
